How we help

Grace Village
Grace Village is the Episcopal-Lutheran campus ministry at Ball State University (626 N Martin Street, Muncie). Grace Village welcomes students for Bible study, worship, service activities, and outreach events.

Project Stepping Stone
Project Stepping Stone is a separate 501(c)3 organization that was founded in 1989 as a mission partnership between Lutheran Church of the Cross, and  Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.  Recently, First Presbyterian Church has joined in as well.

There are remarkably few options for families seeking housing in Muncie. PSS works to counter this by managing three homes that provide transitional housing rent-and-utility-free for low-income families. The three to four months the families spend in our home allow them to recover, save, and move forward after domestic instability, personal loss, or economic hardship. Each year Project Stepping Stone hosts a joint service between the churches, followed by lunch and a traditional dessert auction. It is a lot of fun with a lot of good food.

For information on how to participate in the PSS program, please call Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at (765) 282-0619.

Garden
We are blessed with land and talented hard-working people in our congregation. To use these gifts in the service of God, we have a community vegetable garden. The harvest of the garden is donated to Christian Ministries, as well as shared among the congregation.  We also have a pavilion and meditation garden that is open to the community, offering a quiet place to walk, relax, mediate or sit and talk.
Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child, a program of Samaritan’s Purse is a program that packs shoeboxes full of toys, candy and other small items and sends them to children in need around the world. In 2011, Lutheran Church of the Cross packed 42 shoeboxes for the program.
Wernle Youth and Family Treatment Center  is a family focused, child centered agency providing opportunities for the growth, development and treatment of troubled children and their families - individually, interpersonally and socially - through best-practice programs and a variety of therapy approaches.

We also support the following organizations:
Indiana-Kentucky Synod, ELCA
ELCA World Hunger
Christian Ministries
Souper Bowl of Caring
CROP Walk
Salvation Army
Lutheran World Relief (especially the Fair Trade items!)
